Since it’s genus Hip-Hop has been all about the competition. Whether sound-systems going head to head in a New York park, MC’s going verse for verse in a basement club, b-boys throwing down on a piece of cardboard or a DJs going to battle on set of decks there is always an element of one-upmanship that is all part and parcel of Hip-Hop.
Tonight we have two DJs from three of London’s party throwing Hip-Hop crews all going head to head in a test of skill, style and crowd rocking that is sure to be a real treat for those that like to party.
Representing for the longest running of the crews, The Doctor’s Orders, are Spin Doctor & Mr Thing. Having started throwing parties back in 2005 they have welcomed the great and the good of the Hip-Hop world and thrown 100’s of parties in venues up and down the country. Tonight they will be showing what has kept them on top for so long.
Main Squeeze is not only the collective name for DJs Mo Fingaz & BobaFatt but also a blog and a party that has it’s roots in Bristol but can now be found at Big Chill venues amongst other spots in the capital. With a keen ear for combining the new with the old you can expect a classic boom bap with blended with the latest hype artists.
The self-styled ‘London’s Freshest Hip-Hop Collective’ Droppin’ Science have been rocking shows and airwaves for the last 3 years including regular nights at Proud & Visions Video as well as their popular podcast every month. Repping for their crew are core members, brothers and DMC/ITF champions Matman & Daredevil whose technical skills will set them in good stead as they try to bring the house down on their side.
With each crew playing 2 x 1 hour sets it is sure to be a whole night packed with great music as London’s Hip-Hop scene show and prove.
